Objective of the Project-

  • Support economic growth and reduce poverty by providing improved connectivity and access to development opportunities.
  • Support GoC's initiatives to improve State management of road sector·
  • To improve priority state roads between economic growth centers and rural areas·
  • Instituting measures to improve governance and accountability
  • Increase private sector participation in road development and management.

Projected benefits

  • The Project is expected to benefit 1.7 million people in a 30 km zone of influence around the state roads to be improved. Of these, as estimated 0.77 million people will be direct beneficiaries, or about 45% of the total direct beneficiaries.
  • The main quantifiable benefits of the Project are -
    • savings in vehicle operating costs, which will be passed on to the rural poor through service providers;
    • savings in travel time
  • Non-quantifiable benefits will be realized through improved access to markets and social services for agricultural population and rural poor, which reflects higher profit for poor families, and lower cost and more timely access to schools, medical clinics, and employment centers
